Mechanical Engineer for DESMI Ocean Guard

DESMI Ocean Guard is currently looking to expand our Engineering Department with another Mechanical Engineer for our international organization to support our continuous growth.

DESMI Ocean Guard develops, produces, and sells Ballast Water Management Systems with the purpose of prevent the spreading of invasive species in the marine environment. Our systems are designed with flowrates between 35 and 3000 cubic meters per hour. It is our main priorities to build those systems as compact, cost-effective, and user-friendly as possible within the rules set out by the authorities.

With reference to the Team Leader of the Engineering Department you will be tasked with mechanical constructions and documentation management. You will be working with construction of machined parts as well as welded constructions and be distributing information across the organization.

It is a requirement that you are experienced in Autodesk products such as Inventor and Vault, and preferably AutoCad Plant 3D, and Recap as well. In close collaboration with our Product Managers you will have to ensure that our production has up-to-date production drawings.

DESMI Ocean Guard trades internationally and, thus, in the morning, you will be collaborating with our Asian subsidiaries, at noon with the European colleagues and in the afternoon be supporting our American efforts.
It is important that you are an experienced individual who can manage your own time, as well as is able to work in teams. However, it would be an advantage with prior experience in the marine business with regard to centrifugal pumps and pipe systems.

The positions are based at our main office in Nørresundby, Denmark.

Responsibilities:

  • 3D construction and drawing preparation of machined parts as well as welded assemblies.
  • Introduction of new products including technical documentation (i.e., BOM, work instruction, and quality planning).
  • Cost analysis.
  • Performing stress analysis’ and optimizing the design of new and current products in cost-effective designs.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and marine type approval certificates.
  • Supporting the sales and project management teams in Denmark as well as abroad.

Qualifications

We imagine that you have a background as Mechanical Engineer, Technical Designer or Construction Engineer and have project experience, as well as a practical background such as a Machinist or Welder would be an advantage.

However, it is important that you can gain knowledge and master new technology independently, and furthermore can create new products from nothing.

You write and speak English fluently, as all documentation and reports are written in English, and we are working in international teams.
As a person you are dedicated, have a sharp overview, and at the same time can keep attention to the detail.
Additionally, we value independence, ability to seek information, when needed, and flexibility.

Experience 5+ years.
