You will be part of our Global Procurement department in DESMI currently consisting of 4 category managers in DK and 4 category managers in China. You will report directly to the Global Procurement Manager and work from our HQ in Nørresundby, Denmark. In your role as Category Manager, you will have the strategic sourcing responsibility for several product categories which could be castings and machined parts. It is not mandatory to have experience within these product categories but will be decided based on the right candidate. DESMI’s solid position and growth perspectives makes this position important and very interesting. We are successfully working towards earlier engagement and deeper integration of Global Procurement in connection to both sales and development projects. This gives you an opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping initiatives related to optimization of cost and supply chain. To deliver on such expectations, you shall expect to cooperate with several stakeholders throughout R&D, Sales, and Operations on different levels and in different geographical regions. Your primary tasks will be: Optimization of TCO by creating and shaping DESMI’s supply chain within the select categories: - Analyze, create, implement, and anchor category strategies acc. to the strategic sourcing process with focus on TCO cost down, supply chain optimization, quality performance, payment days and contract coverage.
- Lead cross functional team to defined sourcing levers and finding synergy effects in working with the team.
- Building up close relationship with key suppliers (SRM) and internal stakeholders.
- Negotiation and contract management for both individual projects and quotations as well as for frame agreements.
- Supplier management - supplier approval and evaluation
Your qualifications
We are looking for a person with a very good techno-commercial understanding and background. Ideally, you have a commercial education and 2-3 years of job experience within strategic procurement. Under all circumstances technical understanding and practical experience working with category management will be considered as an advantage.
You have good knowledge and understanding of both the strategic sourcing process, the category management concept, and contractual frameworks (purchase agreements). Strong negotiation skills in combination with good business understanding makes it natural for you to prepare fact-packs and conduct excellent negotiations. Similarly, you can think creatively in finding acceptable solutions for both parties. Others see you as an independent person with a strong drive, getting your energy from achieving goals and doing so in cooperation with your stakeholders. As a team player, you thrive on working in an international environment with many different stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are imperative. Fluency in English is a prerequisite as well as excellent IT skills (Office package).
